As adults we’re renowned for over-thinking and fearing the unknown, and a blank piece of paper can be terrifying! Painting to music is a really accessible way to make art. It’s about drawing without conscious thought. It’s mindful, a real spirit lifter and is a fantastic way to create interesting and exciting abstract artwork. You kick back, let the music consume you and explore the materials in front of you.
In our morning workshop, we’ll paint to an eclectic mix of tracks crossing different genres from rock and blues to contemporary jazz and old skool classic anthems. During the first half of the session, we’ll experiment with different materials and create a series of mixed media artworks on paper before moving on to apply what we’ve learnt to unfired clay with a focus on mark making and colour.
Led by artist Fiona Wilson and ceramicist Amanda Silk in Find Ampthill’s lovely upstairs studio, sessions are very relaxed and supportive and designed to encourage experimentation whilst cleansing the soul.
This workshop is suitable for all levels (14 years +*) and is the perfect inhibition loser for those that want to make art but don’t know where to start.
